This tower was a donation made by the English residents in 1910, for the celebration of the centenary of May Revolution. It was designed by Ambrose Paynter, corresponding to the Elizabethan Renaissance. The entire construction has English objects and symbols keeping the harmony with the whole, in coherence with its style. It has a glass elevator that goes up to the sixth floor. It is possible to enjoy an unbeatable view of the Retiro station area, the port and the Plaza San Martín; it has 70 m of height and is crowned by a typical English clock. On its external face, different British ornamentation symbols can be observed: the thistle flower, the Tudor’s House rose, the red dragon of Whales and Irish clover. Emblems of England and Scotland, like the rising lion, stand out in addition to the unicorn. The tower can be visited from Thursday to Sunday (12:00 to 19:00 hours). During the winter break from Tuesday to Sunday, in such hours; the entrance is free.
