Café Margot | Boedo

This café was included in the Notables group at the end of 2003 and succeeds the mythic “Trianón”, which functioned in the same place between the ‘30s and the ‘70s. Nowadays there is a folk club and an art gallery in the place, and the Boedo XXI Theatre Space and the Lubrano Zas library, belonging to the Historic Studies Association on the top floor. The building is among the oldest ones in the neighborhood, keeping its original structure. The construction of this two-level building started in 1903, for living and business purposes. It went through many phases and hands along the years before 1993, when this recreation of “Trianón” called “Margot” opened. It is famous for the sandwiches it sells. Some people go a long distance to try them. According to the legend (and a plaque in the bar), it was here where they were first made, in the ‘40s. It offers great pasta, and another specialty: grilled empanadas.
