Carlos Gardel Museum | Balvanera Once

Carlos Gardel Museum

As the story goes, Gardel used to live here with his mother Delia Gardés, who lived on ironing. It had been built in 1920, and was fortunately rescued from demolition by the businessman Eduardo Eurnekián, who bought it in order to hand it to the national government. It was then turned into the museum of “El Morocho del Abasto” (the dark guy from Abasto), the father of Tango, and its most living legend. It contains a number of testimonies that witnessed his life, like his school report, the club credential, and other items that account for his personal life.
