It is popularly known as MALBA, it opened by initiative of the Constantini Association, which donated a large collection of 200 pieces by very famous Latin American visual artists of these times: Frida Khalo, Diego Rivera, Guillermo Kuitca, Roberto Matta, Pedro Figari and Antonio Berni among others. The building itself is a piece of art, designed in 1998 for the VII biennial exhibition of Architecture of Buenos Aires, although it inaugurated in 2001. It is an impressive piece of work mainly made of stone and glass, taking up a whole block, and harmonizing with the streets around it. Its halls allow plenty of natural light, excellent for the observation of the art works. This avant-garde place makes room for all art disciplines. It hosts events, conventions, independent film festivals, experimental film projections, talks with writers, premières, special exhibitions and cultural activities for children. It opens from Thursdays to Mondays and holidays from 12am to 8pm, and on Wednesdays until 9pm, remaining closed on Tuesdays.
