The national lawn hockey women team contributes amazingly to the sports history of the country.
They named themselves ”Las Leonas” (lionesses), inspired by “Los Pumas” (national rugby team). Like them, they have traveled the same roads of bravery and courage.
Among their triumphs, the most remarkable have been the first place in the world cup hosted by Australia in 2002, the silver medal in the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 and the bronze medal in Atenas 2004.
Every “Leona” has a position of privilege in the sports history of the country; however, Luciana Aymar deserves the acknowledgement, as she is considered the best lawn hockey player in the world in the past years.
